  Showiness (RIYÂ) We have expressed before in the text that there are sixty significant illnesses of the otherworldly heart. The 10th illness is pomp (riyâ). "Riyâ" signifies to introduce something in a way inverse to its real essence. To put it plainly, it implies assumption, i.e., an individual's performing deeds for the following scene to dazzle the thought on others that he is actually a devout individual with sincere longing of the following scene (âkhirat) while as a matter of fact he needs to achieve his common cravings and the abundance of this world. As such, it means to involve the religion as a device to get common wealth, or to bring oneself into others' approval by making a demonstration of one's demonstrations of love. [If an individual whose activities and words are planned for fraud has strict information, he is called a deceiver (munâfiq).
